About The Position

Tom Drexler Plumbing, Air & Electric is a leading residential plumbing, HVAC, and electrical company serving Louisville for over 30 years. We provide stable, year-round work with modern equipment, clear processes, and strong support for our technicians. This role is for a Purchasing Agent who will be responsible for executing sourcing of materials, maintaining vendor relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of goods to meet cost, timing, and quality objectives.

Requirements

1-3 years of procurement, buying, or expediting experience (HVAC/plumbing industry preferred)
Knowledge of inventory management and procure-to-pay P2P processes
Strong MS Excel, Word, and Outlook skills
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to manage high volume and competing priorities
High school diploma or equivalent required

Nice To Haves

HVAC / Plumbing experience preferred
Parts Counter experience
ServiceTitan or similar ERP system experience a plus
Background in HVAC, plumbing, automotive service, or supply house experience preferred
associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

Execute sourcing of materials to meet cost, timing and quality objectives.
Partner with business unit leaders and provide excellent service in support of company goals.
Maintenance of vendor price lists and preferred supplier relationships.
Vendor price alignment with company’s profit target.
Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
Verify purchase orders by comparing items requested to take-off sheets; clarifying unclear items; and recommending alternatives.
Verify vendor acknowledgements and ensure timely delivery.
Maintain good and positive working relationships with distributors, suppliers, and internal departments.
Collaborate with other departments to resolve quantity, quality, and supply issues in a timely and efficient manner.
Review and resolve back orders, warranty parts and returns.
