About The Position

Hajoca Corporation is seeking a Purchasing Agent and Inventory Controller for their Phoenix, AZ location. This role is responsible for procuring merchandise for resale and managing inventory. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator and negotiator, skilled at analyzing trends, solving problems, and building trusted partnerships with vendors, customers, and co-workers. The position involves negotiating with vendors for optimal pricing and terms, analyzing product on hand and projected sales, processing purchase orders, monitoring shipments, and meeting inventory targets. The role also includes performing cycle counts, resolving discrepancies, maintaining product files, managing customer returns, monitoring market intelligence, and completing required training.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of purchasing and inventory control experience.
  • Effectively use Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to analyze sales and procurement data and understand market trends.
  • Excellent verbal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain influential relationships with vendors, customers and co-workers.
  • Energetic, self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to learn and operate computer-related systems for purchase orders, inventory control, and reporting.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Nice To Haves

  • Wholesale distribution experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of products sold in the Profit Center preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Procuring merchandise for resale and inventory management.
  • Negotiating with vendors to obtain the best pricing, delivery, and terms of purchase.
  • Analyzing product on hand and projected product sales.
  • Creating, processing, and expediting vendor Purchase Orders.
  • Monitoring vendor shipments and receipt of merchandise.
  • Meeting or exceeding Profit Center targets for fill rates/service levels, in stock rates, annual inventory turns, and slow-moving/devalued/overstock inventory levels.
  • Performing cycle counts, researching, and resolving all inventory discrepancies.
  • Performing required file maintenance to products, buy lines, price and buy matrices.
  • Negotiating and maintaining profitable partnerships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Monitoring customer returned goods and vendor merchandise returns.
  • Maintaining market intelligence and reporting changes in pricing levels and potential problem areas.
  • Successfully completing required safety and compliance training programs.
  • Performing other reasonably related duties as assigned.
