About The Position

Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking a Purchaser to support a government contract based in Jacksonville, Florida at Mayport. POSITION SUMMARY We're looking for a detail-oriented Purchaser to join our dynamic team at Amentum. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring cost-effective purchase of all materials and services as required by our production schedule. In this role, you will handle the acquisition of goods, negotiate with suppliers, and maintain relationships with key business partners. Your expertise will help us minimize costs while ensuring quality and efficiency in our service processes.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Proven two (2) years’ work experience as a purchasing agent or in a similar role.
Valid Driver’s License
Strong understanding of supply chain management concepts.
Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to network and influence people.
Experience with ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

Responsibilities

Review and process purchase requisitions and update management on order statuses.
Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, or freight forwarders.
Analyze and evaluate offers from suppliers to determine the most cost-effective solutions.
Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
Fore-cast upcoming demand and manage inventory levels to ensure production continuity.
