About The Position

The Punch Press Operator performs operating duties and contributes to the department as directed by a supervisor. The role involves setting up and operating mechanical or hydraulic presses to complete a wide range of sheet-metal operations on parts made from various metals. Setups may involve progressive, compound, complex forming, or deep-drawing dies.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Set up presses of any capacity for blanking, drawing, embossing, bending, punching, piercing, and similar operations.
Check setups to ensure all clamps and bolts are tight.
Inspect the first piece and make any required operational adjustments.
Instruct operators in proper procedures, methods, safety procedures, and other matters affecting their work.
Determine the causes of faulty operation and take necessary steps to correct them.
Perform similar or associated duties as required or directed.
Operate any press on special or production work as workload, conditions, or direction require.
Detect and report defective materials, improper operation, and unusual conditions to the appropriate supervision.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
Follow prescribed or standard safety regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
