About The Position

The Punch Press Operator performs operating duties and contributes to the department as directed by a supervisor. The role involves setting up and operating mechanical or hydraulic punch presses to perform a range of sheet-metal operations, including blanking, drawing, embossing, bending, punching, and piercing.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Set up punch presses of any capacity, mechanical or hydraulic, for a range of sheet-metal operations. Setups may involve progressive, compound, complex forming, or deep-drawing dies.
Check setups to ensure all clamps and bolts are tight.
Inspect the first piece and make necessary operational adjustments.
Instruct operators on proper procedures, methods, safety procedures, and other matters affecting their work.
Determine causes of faulty operation and take necessary corrective steps; perform similar or associated duties as required or directed.
Operate presses on special or production work as workload, other conditions, or direction requires.
Detect and report defective materials, improper operation, and unusual conditions to proper supervision.
Keep the work area and equipment clean and orderly.
Follow prescribed or standard safety regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
