About The Position

CEDA is looking to hire Pump Operators within our Tailings Management & Environmental Solutions division for a project in Northern Manitoba starting mid-August! This role involves operating, monitoring, and maintaining high-capacity pumps, pipelines, and fluid transfer systems. The position requires ensuring efficient dredging and tailings operations, performing routine inspections and minor repairs, and supporting fluid management while maintaining environmental compliance. The role also includes coordinating with other operators, identifying and reporting equipment issues, conducting preventative maintenance, maintaining records, and ensuring a safe work environment. Participation in safety meetings and assisting with marine operations and material handling are also part of the responsibilities. This is a short-term project work opportunity with a supportive team culture.

Requirements

  • 2+ year’s labour experience is required
  • Valid class 5 driver’s licence is required
  • Valid ECS CSO certification (or combination of CSTS-09 and OSSA Regional or BSO)
  • Able to provide a negative result on a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • You possess an uncompromising commitment to health and safety at all times

Nice To Haves

  • Standard First aid, fall arrest, training is beneficial
  • Valid Pleasure craft operator card is an asset
  • Comfortable working on and around open bodies of water
  • Prior experience with pumps, centrifuge systems or dredging and dewatering is an asset
  • Experience around heavy equipment (Loader, Dozer, Excavator, Backhoe) is an asset
  • You have the ability to prioritize and initiate innovative solutions
  • You demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • You demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain high-capacity pumps, pipelines, and fluid transfer systems.
  • Monitor flow rates, pressures, and system performance to ensure efficient dredging and tailings operations.
  • Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and minor mechanical repairs on pumps and associated equipment.
  • Support fluid management and tailings handling activities while maintaining environmental compliance.
  • Coordinate with dredge operators and supervisors to optimize production and system performance.
  • Identify and report equipment deficiencies, leaks, or operational issues and assist with corrective actions.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate operational, maintenance, and production records.
  • Ensure work areas are maintained in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
  • Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and company safety initiatives.
  • Assist with marine operations, material handling, and heavy equipment activities as required.
