About The Position

Voigt-Abernathy is seeking an experienced Pump Mechanic to inspect, repair, rebuild, and test a wide variety of industrial pumps and rotating equipment. The role requires mechanical aptitude, a focus on safety, high-quality workmanship, and strong customer service. Work is performed primarily in the repair facility, with occasional assignments at customer locations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least two years of experience repairing industrial pumps or rotating equipment.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and shop equipment.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with centrifugal pumps, air-operated double diaphragm (AODD) pumps, positive displacement pumps, rotary lobe pumps, gear pumps, or vacuum pumps.
• Experience with mechanical seals and bearing installation.
• Experience with laser alignment equipment.
• Experience with vibration analysis and predictive maintenance.
• Industrial maintenance, millwright, or rotating equipment experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical failures on industrial pumps and rotating equipment.
• Inspect, disassemble, clean, rebuild, and reassemble pumps and related equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and complete pump overhauls.
• Install, align, and commission new pumping equipment.
• Read and interpret equipment drawings, manuals, and repair documentation.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate service records.
• Recommend repair options and replacement parts.
• Ensure work complies with company quality standards and safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and fellow team members.
• Assist with field service assignments as needed.
