About The Position

Smithfield Foods is hiring a General Production team member to perform production tasks and help process meat products safely and efficiently. The role supports coworkers and production-line operations while helping maintain standards for food safety, product quality, and teamwork. Employees work with hand tools, knives, machinery, and other equipment. The work can be physically demanding and requires hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and the ability to work a scheduled shift. Overtime may be required depending on production demands. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Have the ability to perform continuous and repetitive movements, including grasping, pinching, and flexing and extending the arms.
Stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
Be willing and able to work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
Be willing and able to work with a knife if trained.
Be willing and able to work in cold areas (approximately 20–40 degrees) and/or warm areas (over 100 degrees), and in wet and humid conditions.
Wear a hard hat, hearing and eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes; work in a noisy environment using personal protective equipment.
Work with sanitation and cleaning chemicals and around strong smells or odors.
Climb and move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways, and platforms; bend, stoop, and twist repetitively; and walk long distances.
May require certification to operate equipment required for the position.
Be able to perform physically demanding work, which may include repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 pounds, single lifts up to 60 pounds, or lifting with mechanical assistance.
Be able to work the scheduled shift and, when required by production demands, overtime.
