About The Position

Breathing is the difference between a life in motion and a life on hold. In this role, you will own the clinical outcomes of patients with complex lung and critical-care disease—from first consult through recovery—so families leave with a clear plan, not unanswered questions. You will set the standard for timely diagnosis, decisive intervention, and care that holds up when the night gets hard.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. with board certification or active eligibility in Pulmonary Disease; Critical Care certification or eligibility strongly preferred.
  • Unrestricted medical license, or eligibility to obtain one before start, and a clean, verifiable clinical record.
  • Demonstrated independent management of ventilated patients and performance of diagnostic bronchoscopy.
  • Track record of clinic ownership: timely notes, closed referrals, and outcomes you can describe with numbers, not adjectives.
  • Clear communication with patients, families, and consulting teams under time pressure.
  • Commitment to evidence-based protocols and to teaching the people who extend your reach.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat a defined panel of pulmonary and critical-care patients so that treatment plans are started within the first visit and revised against measurable clinical goals.
  • Lead ventilator and respiratory-failure decisions in the ICU, reducing avoidable complications and shortening time to liberation from mechanical support.
  • Perform and interpret bronchoscopies and pulmonary function studies with documented accuracy, turning results into same-cycle treatment changes.
  • Close the loop with primary care, oncology, and cardiology so referrals are answered, handoffs are complete, and no patient is lost between services.
  • Build and run a lung-disease clinic pathway—COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, sleep-related breathing disorders—that cuts avoidable readmissions and ED returns.
  • Teach residents, advanced practice clinicians, and respiratory therapists through bedside decisions they can repeat without you in the room.
  • Contribute outcome data and case review that improve protocol adherence and patient-reported function within the first year.
