About The Position

This PFT position is Full time, with a rotating schedule of 32 hours one week and 40 hours the next. It is a Dayshift position with no weekends or holidays required. The Pulmonary Function Technologist is responsible for performing various pulmonary diagnostic testing modalities offered by the PFT lab with minimal guidance. This role provides age-appropriate services to infant, adolescent, and adult patients. The technologist will also perform calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting on equipment within the lab's scope and professionally interact with vendors, patients, family members, regulatory agencies, and other medical professionals.

Requirements

Associate's Degree Required
At least two (2) years pulmonary lab or pediatric respiratory care experience Required
Respiratory Therapist (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required or Osteopathic Respiratory Therapist (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) - upon hire - Required or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) - upon hire - Required
Registered Pulmonary Function Tech (RPFT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) - within 36 months - Required or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) - within 36 months - Required
Basic Life Support (BLS) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Required
Flexibility, cooperativeness, and outstanding interpersonal skills for successful interactions with parents and patients. (Required proficiency)
Calmness under pressure, while prioritizing and simultaneously handling multiple tasks. (Required proficiency)
Ability to exercise independent judgment in setting priorities and finding appropriate resources for specific testing. (Required proficiency)
Ability to apply scientific principals within the framework of the lab. (Required proficiency)
Good telephone interaction for assisting in scheduling. (Required proficiency)

Responsibilities

Performs routine and specialty pulmonary function testing efficiently, while achieving ATS standards.
Participates in research projects supported through the lab by learning new techniques and skills to follow studies' required protocols.
Teaches skills and provides knowledge to aid department in providing education and orientation.
