About The Position

This hourly position performs a variety of duties involved in the daily operations of the Public Works Department. Operates a variety of equipment and hand power tools in the construction, repair, replacement, and maintenance of Town owned streets, storm drainage, parks, buildings, grounds and cemetery systems. Assists the Streets and Grounds division with snow removal of streets, rec paths, parks and Town owned properties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • CPR/AED & First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within the first 6 months. Training provided by the Town.)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass a background investigation.
  • 18+ years old to drive Town vehicle
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to function independently and make sound and reasonable decisions in the absence of supervisory guidance.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional course work from a trade or technical school
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, and other basic computer operations.
  • CDL Class “B”
  • 2+ years’ experience operating motorized vehicles and equipment
  • Snow removal operations experience

Responsibilities

  • Operates Town equipment as directed by supervisor. This may include, but is not limited to wheel loader, skid steer loader, municipal tractor, backhoe and other related heavy equipment.
  • May handle basic maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  • Performs street, building and park maintenance and snow removal.
  • Assist Grounds division with pond ice rink maintenance.
  • This position is responsible for snow removal on all Town owned streets, sidewalks, and parking areas using both mechanical and manual snow removal apparatus.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assists in constructing and erecting traffic and information signage.
  • Provides traffic control at work sites by proper signage installation and flagging to guide traffic through work areas, as required.
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials and equipment.
  • Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.
  • Provides preventative equipment maintenance inspections such as pre/post trips, checking fluids, etc.
  • Reports any problems in a timely manner to the Fleet Maintenance Manager.
  • Performs multiple duties as it pertains to Town Sponsored Special Events such as; set-up, take-down, trash & street sweeping.
  • This position requires regular and reliable in-person attendance at the designated worksite as an essential function of the job. As a public servant, physical presence is necessary to effectively perform essential duties, support operational needs, collaborate with team members, provide direct service to the public and internal stakeholders, utilize on-site equipment and resources, and maintain effective communication, responsiveness, and accountability in serving the community.
  • Adheres to Town of Frisco policies, mission, vision, values, competencies, standards, and regulations including but not limited to proper attire, safety procedures, and overall professionalism.
  • Attends Town and departmental training and meetings as appropriate or assigned.
  • Ability to function and make good decisions in the absence of a supervisor.
  • Communicates with Town of Frisco employees, citizens, customers and vendors in a professional, courteous and timely manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Performs other job duties/responsibilities as assigned by management.
