About The Position

The City of Neenah is seeking a dedicated and experienced Public Works Assistant Superintendent to lead and coordinate key public works operations that support the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of our community. This position is responsible for assigning, coordinating, and supervising curbside collection services, street maintenance, storm sewer and sanitary sewer maintenance and repair activities, and snow and ice control operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in public works maintenance, supervision, or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Must obtain within six (6) months of hire: State of Wisconsin Class A Fuel System Operator License
  • Must obtain within six (6) months of hire: State of Wisconsin Class B Fuel System Operator License

Responsibilities

  • Oversee curbside collection, disposal, and Drop-Off Center operations.
  • Supervise street, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and snow/ice maintenance.
  • Conduct efficiency reviews and manage commercial collection contracts.
  • Coordinate utility locates and prepare work orders.
  • Lead, schedule, train, and evaluate staff; support recruitment and performance management.
  • Promote workplace safety and maintain operational records.
  • Assess equipment and staffing needs; respond to emergencies on-call.
  • Represent the department at meetings and assist with contract negotiations.
  • Provide professional customer service to residents.
  • Perform duties of Public Works Superintendent as needed and other assigned tasks.
