The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) is committed to ensuring that Florida's consumers receive essential services—electric, natural gas, telephone, water, and wastewater—in a safe, reasonable, and reliable manner. The FPSC exercises regulatory authority over utilities in areas such as rate base/economic regulation, competitive market oversight, and monitoring of safety, reliability, and service. The Division of Economics provides recommendations on utility rates and tariffs, reviews depreciation rates and practices, and analyzes utility forecasts. It also evaluates conservation program costs and achievements, territorial agreements, and disputes for the electric and natural gas industries. Additionally, the Division analyzes the costs and benefits of proposed Commission rules for all regulated industries.
