About The Position

The City of Livonia is seeking a Public Service Worker I to perform various work in the Department of Public Works. This role involves tasks such as water main repair, service taps, hydrant and valve repair, water meter services, sanitary and storm sewer services, sign maintenance services, tree service, snow & ice control service, leaf and brush collection services, concrete & asphalt repair services, structure repair services and recreational facilities & grounds maintenance. The employee will operate equipment like tractors, dump trucks, and trailers. This position may require overtime, is subject to call-in outside normal working hours, and includes related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Be a Citizen of the United States or resident alien with the right to work in the United States
Have a high school diploma or valid equivalency certificate within one year of date-of-hire
Have a minimum of one year of paid work experience
Be eligible for a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) for, or have a valid Group ‘A’ Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake
Have or be eligible for a valid Industrial Truck Driving Permit for operation of a forklift
Be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds
Pass the written test
Pass a pre-employment medical examination

Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools
Ability to operate light trucks, mowers and tractors
Ability to perform manual labor in all weather conditions
