About The Position

The primary focus of this leadership position is to collaborate and provide strategic planning and operational leadership for the Office of Education in the Unorganized Territory and serves as the Unorganized Territory's Superintendent of Schools. This position formulates and directs the implementation of education policy of the Department of Education related to elementary and secondary education in Maine's Unorganized Territory ensuring programs are in alignment with the Commissioner's policy agenda. The Superintendent of Schools is responsible for the comprehensive coordination and alignment of policies, programs and initiatives of the Office of Education in the Unorganized Territory. In collaboration with the Commissioner and the senior leadership team, this position provides leadership in strategic planning and in clearly articulating the mission and priorities of the Office of Education in the Unorganized Territory necessary for the effective and efficient operations of multiple programs and schools of the office.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Education or related
  • 5+ years as a Superintendent
  • Current (010) Education Certification

  • Direct experience with Maine school operations including resource management

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and provide strategic planning and operational leadership for the Office of Education in the Unorganized Territory.
  • Serve as the Unorganized Territory's Superintendent of Schools.

  • Ensure programs are in alignment with the Commissioner's policy agenda.

  • Provide leadership in strategic planning in collaboration with the Commissioner and the senior leadership team.
  • Clearly articulate the mission and priorities of the Office of Education in the Unorganized Territory necessary for the effective and efficient operations of multiple programs and schools of the office.
