This position, Security Officer, provides a variety of security and safety related functions to safeguard students, faculty, staff, and visitors. It ensures security for equipment and real property in assigned areas, communicates effectively and respectfully with the campus community, supervisors, and peers, and provides information and directions as needed. The role may be assigned to a specific zone or geographical work area. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or the formal education equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a security related field
  • Completion of 30 educational hours at an institution of higher education
  • Certification in CPR

Responsibilities

  • Provides a variety of security and safety related functions while involved in safeguarding students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Provides security for equipment and real property in assigned areas.
  • Communicates effectively and respectfully with members of the campus community, supervisors, and peers.
  • Provides information and directions as needed.
