About The Position

This position provides security for the safety and protection of the hospital's patients, staff, general public, and properties. The role involves periodically patrolling buildings and grounds, examining entry points for security, and warning or apprehending violators. The officer will also watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards and security breaches, observe departing personnel to prevent theft, and record data on property damage and unusual occurrences. Responsibilities include assisting local authorities with investigations, reporting criminal acts, and aiding hospital staff in providing protection and safety. The position adheres to all general and special orders as directed.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Obtain and satisfactorily complete the initial 8 hour Hospital Orientation Program and Annual Competency Reviews and any other training as may be occasionally mandated.
Obtain and satisfactorily complete annual (or biannual as applicable) re-certifications in: CPR (Cardio Pulmonary resuscitation; Fit testing for Tuberculosis Respirator Masks; Hazard Communication Program; Annual Fire Suppression and Hazard Recognition Training; Annual Self Defense and Management of Violent Situations Training; Annual Training and physical completion for the Emergency Response Team; and other training as may be determined by the Supervisor of Public Safety.
Avade 2 (restraint) training completion required within 6 months of hire into role.
Three years related experience and/or training in public safety.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Must be able to run, stoop, crawl, climb stairs, carry another human being, and stand for long periods of time without any physical limitations and during all kinds of weather conditions.
Must be familiar with and possess the ability (manual dexterity) to operate a public safety vehicle, emergency lights, public safety radios, radio scanners, telephones, MDT, etc.
Must possess the ability to drive a public safety vehicle and speak on the radio at the same time, and ensure that public safety officers and public safety officers trainees assigned to his/her shift are likewise proficient.
Valid Driver's License required
Successful completion of Management of Aggressive Behavior within 30 days of hire required.
