About The Position

St. Mary's General Hospital is seeking a Public Safety Officer to provide security services at its community-based tertiary medical center in Passaic, New Jersey. The role includes electronic surveillance and systematic manual security rounds, coordinating responses to potential problems affecting patients, employees, and visitors, and enforcing policies and procedures equitably. The officer uses ongoing monitoring practices to help maintain a safe workplace and environment of care, works with the Environment of Care committee on security and safety, and participates in employee awareness and education. Driving may be required for company business. This is a per diem position with a variable shift.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
State Guard Certification Registration Card.
State driver's license upon hire, as required by the facility.
Current DMV H6 report or driving history report, as required by the facility.

Nice To Haves

Experience in healthcare security or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform security services, including electronic surveillance and systematic manual security rounds.
Coordinate facility responses to potential problems involving patients, employees, and visitors.
Enforce policies and procedures equitably.
Follow guidelines and ongoing monitoring practices to help establish a safe workplace and environment of care.
Work with the Environment of Care committee to support a multidisciplinary approach to security and safety.
Participate in employee awareness and education.
Drive as needed for company business.
