About The Position

As a Public Safety Officer at Morgan’s Multi-Assistance Center (MAC), you will ensure a safe and secure environment for MAC members, their families, staff, and visitors while fostering a positive, inclusive atmosphere. This role requires a Level III Security License and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification, with a strong focus on non-restrictive, de-escalation strategies in a restraint-free environment. You will collaborate with caregivers and interdisciplinary teams to manage behavioral challenges empathetically and professionally.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Level II Security License required (Non-Commissioned Security Officer)
  • CPI certification, or willingness to complete CPI training provided by Morgan’s MAC
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in security or public safety
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with special needs or disabilities

  • Preferred experience with de-escalation techniques for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
  • Proficiency with security systems, incident reporting, and dispatch operations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and interaction with MAC members, staff, and MAC Partners
  • Occasional travel for meetings, events, and training is required.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol & Surveillance: Security officers regularly patrol assigned areas on foot or in a vehicle, monitor surveillance cameras and alarms, conduct security checks of buildings and grounds, and identify and report suspicious activity.
  • Access Control: Security officers monitor entrances and exits, verify identification of visitors and employees, control access to restricted areas, and issue visitor badges and escorts.
  • Incident Response: Security officers respond to alarms and emergencies, investigate incidents and accidents, interview witnesses and gather evidence, and write detailed reports.
  • Crisis Prevention & Intervention: Respond to disruptive behaviors using non-restrictive, de-escalation techniques. Collaborate with caregivers and other professionals to provide support to individuals experiencing crises, ensuring a compassionate and non-confrontational approach.
  • Incident Reporting: Accurately report security incidents and provide detailed information to assist in investigations.
