About The Position

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) is a private, nonprofit community-based healthcare system that provides advanced care to a 22-county region in North Florida and South Georgia. TMH is the region’s healthcare leader and top provider of advanced care with a 772-bed acute care hospital and the region’s only Level II Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care, and the most advanced cancer, heart and vascular, orthopedic & surgery programs in the Panhandle. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., certificate of high school equivalency.
  • One (1) year of relevant, job-related work experience.
  • Successful completion of the Field Training Officer (FTO) Program (provided by the Supervisor/Security).
  • Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) credential from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS).
  • Blue Card certification from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
  • American Red Cross (ARC) first aid certification.

Nice To Haves

  • TASER certification from a certified instructor.
  • Handcuff certification from a certified instructor.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures colleagues,’ patients,’ and visitors’ safety; patrols and surveils all hospital campus areas and responds to emergencies quickly and appropriately.
  • Displays an understanding of diversity.
  • Demonstrates integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence (I CARE values).
  • Enhances and contributes to a safe environment for all colleagues, visitors, and patients.
  • Patrols and surveils hospital campus; provides unarmed security.
  • Responds to emergencies and drills (e.g., infant/child abductions (“code pinks”), fires (“code reds”), disasters (“code greens”) and violent/security events (“code greys”).
  • Investigates thefts, burglaries, automobile collisions, and other violations.
  • Delivers medication and emergency shipments.
  • Assists staff members with patients.
  • Completes required training.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties not expressly described herein.
