This full-time role involves conducting patrols with a K-9 unit to detect firearms at various hospital locations, including entrances, Emergency Departments, EMS areas, parking structures, and public corridors. The officer will neutralize threats and escalate them through proper Public Safety procedures. The position also supports general Public Safety operations, maintains K-9 related equipment and vehicles, and engages in liaison duties to build partnerships with hospital departments. Additionally, the role includes delivering security awareness education and coordinating with law enforcement agencies. The officer will also coordinate and monitor prisoner patient guards to ensure policy compliance and prevent unsafe practices. Maintaining current training standards in radio communications, de-escalation, CPR, clinical restraints, and conducted energy weapons is essential.
