About The Position

The Ohio Narcotics Intelligence Center provides investigative support through the extraction and analysis of electronic devices, criminal case support, trend analysis, cryptocurrency tracing, and dark web investigations. Training and development required to remain in the classification after employment include obtaining and renewing LEADS certification biannually. Some positions at the Department of Public Safety must be able to obtain and maintain a secret level federal security clearance. This position may require some travel. Working hours will include nights, weekends and holidays, based on operational need. The position also requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal Secret level Security Clearance. A valid driver's license is required to operate a state-owned vehicle, or the applicant must be able to provide their own transportation. A BCI and FBI fingerprint check, a background check, including a polygraph examination, may be required on all selected applicants. A comparative analysis and/or drug-test may be a requirement of the hiring process. This position is identified as safety sensitive and subject to random drug & alcohol testing in accordance with DPS 501.24. The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace which prohibits the use of marijuana (recreational marijuana/non-medical cannabis).

Requirements

• 36 mos. exp. conducting research & writing reports using operational, mathematical, analytical &/or statistical research techniques
• Completion of undergraduate core program in homeland security, political science, criminal justice, emergency management, public health, international affairs or related field; AND 12 mos. exp. conducting research & writing reports using operational, mathematical, analytical &/or statistical research techniques
• Must obtain LEADS certification; must renew LEADS certification biannually
• Must be able to obtain & maintain secret level federal security clearance
• Requires valid driver's license to operate state-owned vehicle or must be able to provide own transportation
• A BCI and FBI fingerprint check, a background check, including a polygraph examination, may be required

Responsibilities

• Develop proper research tools, methods & intelligence request forms to appropriately accommodate intelligence information
• Identify & analyze informational databases, spreadsheets & reports allowing information to be easily exchanged & understood
• Prepare intelligence reports, products, & briefings for presentation to all public safety partners
• Coordinate interstate & intrastate information
• Provide operational guidance to partners
