About The Position

The Public Safety Constable must meet the stated minimum qualifications, including age, education or military service, background, certification, and driver’s license requirements. The role requires obtaining and maintaining State of Delaware Constable certification by the month of June following the date of hire, or by the next date the Board of Examiners meets, and obtaining CPR/First Aid/AED certification within six months of hire. Law enforcement experience is preferred.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must possess an associate degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and related experience, or have completed two years of active duty in the United States Armed Forces with an honorable or general discharge.
• Must not have been convicted of a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude.
• Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain State of Delaware Constable certification by the month of June following the date of hire, or the next date the Board of Examiners meets.
• Must obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within six months of hire.
• Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
