About The Position

Renowned for the quality of its products and services, the Old Port of Montréal Corporation manages a vast recreational and cultural site. Through the enhancement of the Old Port site and the Montreal Science Centre, the Société actively participates in the development of the metropolis. A dynamic and diverse place awaits you! Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Business Relations, the Public Relations Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing public relations campaigns, as well as managing media relations for the business units—namely the Montreal Science Centre and the Old Port of Montreal—and the products and events of the Old Port of Montreal Corporation. In addition, they work closely with the entire team to align every aspect of marketing with the overall (360-degree) strategy.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in public relations, communication, strategic consulting, and press relations
  • Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, or related fields
  • Knowledge of the Montreal press (in the cultural, recreational-tourism, and scientific sectors, an asset)
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Good knowledge of web 2.0 and the blogging and influencer landscape
  • Knowledge of English (advanced, level 4)

Responsibilities

  • Develops, proposes, and implements media strategies.
  • Compiles media lists and is responsible for keeping them up to date.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with relevant media outlets, bloggers, and influencers.
  • Drafts strategic communications and ensures their distribution to the media.
  • Solicits coverage and interviews from journalists, researchers, bloggers, etc., and negotiates the logistics, content, etc.
  • Invites media, bloggers, and influencers to attend press events, launches, and public relations activities.
  • Manages and responds to all verbal or written inquiries from the media and follows up with journalists.
  • Monitors media coverage related to the Company’s products.
  • Stays up to date on and is familiar with new publications, new media outlets, new programs, and new blogs tailored to various target audiences.
  • Participates in the development of tools to measure key performance indicators for media relations.
  • Designs launch events for the Company’s products.
  • Actively collaborates on integrating public relations into 360° marketing campaigns.
  • Drafts various informational materials for the media and bloggers (press releases, fact sheets, Q&As, etc.).
  • Ensures the accuracy of media content and communicates it in a clear and accessible manner.
  • Coordinates and supervises on-site filming to increase the visibility of our offerings.
  • Develops an annual public relations plan and implements strategies and action plans.
  • Develops communication tools related to the public relations plan and drafts communication plans.
  • Serves as a spokesperson for the Company’s business units and products in dealings with the media and, as needed, recommends spokespersons based on activities and media requests.
  • Provides media advice to all Company spokespersons. Attends all interviews and conducts preparatory meetings.
  • Drafts speeches or various editorial content for Company spokespersons and management.
  • Develops a strategy and invites targeted audiences to attend launch events, openings, public relations activities, etc., as appropriate.
  • Monitors various media outlets, analyzes content, and makes recommendations.
  • Analyzes the results and impact of media coverage.
  • Drafts and edits content for the intranet and internal newsletters.
  • Develops and implements internal communication strategies for SVPM employees and partners.
  • Works closely with other departments to validate messages and ensure content consistency.
  • Analyzes the needs and performance of internal communications and, as needed, recommends new approaches.
  • Collaboratively develops an annual communication plan with an impact assessment and implements strategies and the action plan, while liaising with various committees, business partners, and stakeholders.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors budgets and timelines for their sector.
  • Develops policies and procedures related to their areas of activity and ensures their implementation and dissemination.
  • Suggests tools for measuring public relations performance and oversees their implementation.
  • Verifies client satisfaction with services provided and implements necessary corrective measures.
  • Negotiates the best agreements and contracts for their sector.
