About The Position

The Public Relations and Communications Manager leads the development and execution of integrated communications strategies that strengthen CFT’s brand, visibility, and reputation. Serving as a key partner to the Senior Director. PR, Communications, and External Relations, this role drives public relations, storytelling, and editorial content across owned and earned channels, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities. The Manager acts as a strategic advisor to internal stakeholders, identifies opportunities, and leads high-impact communications initiatives. This role also supports CFT’s asset growth strategy by developing and executing targeted communications that engage professional advisors and position CFT as a trusted partner. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this role executes key initiatives and manages agency partners. This position is based in the Dallas office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, PR, or related field
  • 6–8+ years of progressive experience in public relations, communications, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience developing and leading strategic communications or PR plans
  • Experience working directly with senior leadership and executive stakeholders
  • Experience managing agency partners and external vendors
  • Superior writing and editing skills across formats (media, executive comms, digital content, storytelling)
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling narratives
  • Experience measuring PR performance and translating data into actionable insights
  • Proven ability to operate independently and lead initiatives with minimal oversight
  • Demonstrated leadership mindset, including initiative, accountability, and influence without authority
  • High integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of CFT’s public relations and media strategy in partnership with the Senior Director and external PR firm
  • Operationalize the public relations strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and measurable outcomes
  • Oversee and develop press materials, ensuring consistency, quality, and strategic positioning
  • Build and strategically expand relationships with media, journalists, influencers, and community partners
  • Identify, shape, and proactively pitch high-impact story opportunities across the organization
  • Manage and provide direction to PR and Media agency partners, ensuring accountability, alignment, and results
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to internal stakeholders on messaging, positioning, and communications opportunities
  • Own PR performance tracking and reporting, translating insights into recommendations for leadership and the Board
  • Manage influencer and partnership strategy, including vetting and managing external relationships
  • Lead the development and evolution of CFT’s storytelling and editorial strategy in partnership with the Senior Director
  • Manage editorial calendar governance and content prioritization across key initiatives
  • Ensure messaging consistency and alignment across audiences, channels, and campaigns
  • Partner cross-functionally to execute copywriting, editing, and content development across platforms including social media
  • Stay ahead of philanthropy, civic, and industry trends to inform timely, relevant communications
  • Capture and develop storytelling content from events and community impact efforts
  • Strategically identify and manage high-impact speaking opportunities and public engagements in partnership with the Senior Director
  • Support executive communications including messaging, talking points, social media post writing, and media preparation
  • Partner on event-related storytelling, positioning, and amplification
  • Identify and lead award and recognition opportunities for CFT leadership and programs
  • Partner with relationships team to support CFT’s strategy for growing assets through professional advisor engagement
  • Develop and execute targeted communications strategies that position CFT as a trusted partner for attorneys, accountants, financial advisors, and wealth managers
  • Build and apply subject matter expertise in philanthropic strategies, financial vehicles, and advisor needs to inform effective communications strategy for this audience
  • Create and oversee high-quality content, messaging, and materials tailored to professional advisor audiences, including thought leadership, tools, and campaign assets
  • Identify opportunities to elevate CFT’s expertise and value proposition within the professional advisor community through media, speaking engagements, and strategic partnerships
  • Support marketing campaigns and initiatives designed to increase awareness, engagement, and referrals from professional advisors
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate complex financial, philanthropic, and investment concepts into clear and compelling messaging
