About The Position

The Public Policy Dissertation Chair/Reader position is considered an Online Adjunct Professor position with the Helms School of Government. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to administering dissertation courses in accordance with assigned schedule, providing detailed feedback, mentoring/challenging students to grow intellectually and spiritually, maintaining contact with students to advise on matters related to academic achievement, attendance, and behavior, and maintaining/reporting grades and attendance in accordance with university policies. Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that an adjunct member models a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engage in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed Christian worldview. Adjuncts should view their teaching, engagement with students, and scholarship as a means to a significant educational end. They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the development of good learning conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofar as it is possible, provide for individual differences, abilities, and interests.

Requirements

  • PhD, Doctor (other than Juris Doctor), or similar terminal degree from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in a Government, Political Science, Political Theory, Public Policy, International Relations, Security Studies, Economics, relevant research methodologies, or other related disciplines.
  • Prior experience serving in dissertation or capstone committees
  • Organizational skills that facilitate the completion of assignments and tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Adequate interpersonal, customer service, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to convey information.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and online Learning Management Systems

  • Demonstrated strengths in teaching and mentoring at the graduate level.
  • Strong organizational skills that facilitate assignment/task anticipation and completion.
  • Superior interpersonal, customer service, and presentation skills required.

  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office suite and online Learning Management Systems(Canvas).
