About The Position

The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) aims to provide excellent transportation services, ensuring courteous and efficient public interaction while safeguarding Delaware residents through the validation of licensed drivers and the inspection of vehicles for safety and emissions. Additionally, the DMV manages a toll network that is safe, efficient, and environmentally conscious, offering convenient and cost-effective traffic processing options. This role involves providing excellent customer service, handling escalated inquiries, participating in on-site and off-site events that may occur during evenings and weekends, assisting with graphic design for various platforms, managing and monitoring the Division's social media channels, creating and editing brochures and forms, and offering internal support to the Division. Experience in graphic design, photography, marketing, advertising, social media, customer service, and versatile writing is required.

Requirements

  • Six months experience in public relations or media relations to establish and promote a positive image and inform or influence specific audiences through the use of internal and external communications such as public forums, print or electronic media, speech writing, writing/editing, marketing, advertising, or special events.
  • Six months experience in gathering, organizing, formatting and translating or interpreting information into forms more easily understood by the media or public, and disseminating the information through the use of print, broadcast or electronic media.
  • Six months experience in public speaking which includes gathering, preparing and presenting information to the public or media groups.
  • Knowledge of developing, planning and directing public events, campaigns, programs or services to meet community needs.
  • Experience in graphic design, photography, marketing, advertising, social media, customer service and writing for numerous situations is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months experience in the use of Social Media as a public relations networking method (i.e. Facebook, Twitter).
  • Six months experience using software for graphic design, video editing and web development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Respond to escalated inquiries.
  • Attend on and off-site events which may occur at night and on the weekends.
  • Assist with designing graphics for a variety of platforms.
  • Help manage and monitor the Division's social media channels.
  • Create and edit brochures and forms.
  • Provide internal support for the Division.
  • Gathers, organizes, and formats information related to an agency's goals, objectives and services.
  • Promotes an agency's image consistent with the overall direction of the agency.
  • Coordinates timely and accurate responses and information to citizens, community groups or governmental agencies.
  • Encourages participation in the use of agency services.
  • Coordinates and conducts public meetings, media events or educational programs.
  • Ensures a mutual sharing of information with other agencies, media and the general public.
  • May supervise staff.
