About The Position

The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) is seeking a Public Hearing Coordinator to support the growth and expansion of Dining Out NYC (DONYC). This role, under the Director of Public Engagement, involves preparing and conducting DONYC public hearings, executing stakeholder outreach, and increasing program awareness and understanding of the licensing process. The coordinator will also prepare presentations, attend events, gather feedback, prepare reports, address complaints, and support DOT staff with outreach for key program-related events. Additionally, they may assist in drafting revocable consents and interacting with the public, politicians, city agencies, elected officials, and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above.
  • All candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in '1' above.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and conduct DONYC public hearings.
  • Execute stakeholder outreach to support DONYC.
  • Increase awareness of the program's benefits and understanding of the licensing process.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations.
  • Attend DONYC events and trade shows.
  • Gather feedback from applicants and key stakeholders on the program to improve future operations.
  • Prepare reports as needed.
  • Address complaints received through ARTS, email, and 311.
  • Use outreach to support DOT staff around key events impacting the program, such as street redesigns, special events or changes to requirements.
  • Assist program staff in drafting revocable consents and their interactions with the general public, local politicians, city agencies, elected officials, and stakeholders.
