As a Public Health RN within the Columbus Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Completion of a PHN course within one (1) year of hire
  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license
  • CPR certification
  • A copy of college transcript is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • One (1) year of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the TB nurse for the health department and will provide professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies, and/or procedures.
  • Function as an expanded role nurse providing patient care consistent with patient’s level of need.
  • Utilize the EMR system to accurately document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement.
  • Order and dispense medications based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
  • Serve as patient advocate and refer patients to community partners or private physicians, when indicated.
