All Coastal Health District County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Twelve months of experience handling customer's questions, complaints and/or providing information

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, performs a wide range of administrative and clerical duties to support the Chatham County Health Department’s Chest Clinic.
  • Answering telephones and emails
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Checking patients in/out
  • Maintaining clinic flow
  • Processing referrals
  • Electronic health record data entry
  • Processing payments
  • Verifying insurance
  • Tracking outstanding balances owed
  • Resolving customer complaints
  • Drafting documentation or reports
  • Handling confidential information
  • Providing a professional and courteous customer service experience
  • Communicating with internal and external customers/partners to meet customer expectations as well as maintaining HIPAA standards related to privacy and security
  • Responding to emergencies
  • Attending staff meetings and on-going training to perform job tasks effectively
  • Occasionally lifting of up to 45 pounds
  • Performing additional customer service and clerical support duties when assigned
