About The Position

The Tuberculosis (TB) Program is seeking to fill one full-time Public Health Nurse position. The primary responsibility of this role is to serve as a clinic triage nurse and provide care coordination, patient education, follow-up, and case management services for individuals with latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI). The PHN may also provide case management for patients with active tuberculosis disease based on program needs. This position works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support patient care and treatment completion and provides TB education and outreach to community members, healthcare providers, and community partners. Requirements

  • Washington State Registered Nurse License in good standing.
  • Washington State license as a Registered Nurse (in good standing) and a bachelor's degree in nursing science or a graduate level nursing degree of MSN, DNP or PhD from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Washington State Drivers' License
  • Current BLS-CPR for Healthcare Providers
  • Successful completion of background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
  • Must adhere to OSHA/WISHA guidelines including but not limited to completing their mandatory trainings on time and obtaining required immunizations.
  • Regular and reliable attendance, effective communication skills, and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all Public Health positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy skills or willingness to learn phlebotomy skills is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the clinic triage nurse and support daily clinic operations
  • Conduct nursing assessments, obtain medical histories, and evaluate patient needs
  • Provide care coordination, treatment monitoring, follow-up, and case management for patients with latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI)
  • Provide case management for patients with active TB as assigned
  • Provide patient education and counselling regarding TB, treatment, medication adherence, and prevention
  • Triage and perform nursing assessments for TB suspects, educate on TB, and manage lab orders and result tracking.
  • Manage clinic medications, medical supplies, and inventory as assigned
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and community providers to ensure care coordination, continuity of care, and successful treatment completion.
  • Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection as needed for TB evaluation and treatment monitoring or willingness to learn phlebotomy skills is preferred.
  • Attends community events to support TB education and targeted testing efforts, conducts outreach to healthcare providers, interviews TB patients, and coordinates and participates in community engagement efforts in the community.
