About The Position

The Public Health Nurse, working under the direction of the Manager of Public Health Nursing, is an integral member of the Public Health Services team. This role provides nursing services within the framework of the Population Health Promotion Model and requires a significant degree of independent decision-making based on sound assessments. The nurse must adhere to the Public Health Act, the policies of the Public Health Nursing program, the SRNA Standards of Practice, the Canadian Community Health Nursing Standards of Practice, the Public Health Nursing Discipline Specific Competencies, and other relevant legislation. The role encompasses health promotion, primary and secondary prevention strategies, and protection. It involves translating knowledge from health and social sciences to support health programs and advocacy, and liaising with and referring to other health personnel, sectors, and community groups.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years experience as a Public Health Nurse
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Certificate (BLS-HCP)
  • Immunization Competencies Course
  • Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
