About The Position

Middlesex County is seeking a dedicated and skilled Public Health Nurse to support our full service public health nursing division within our large and dynamic health department. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), demonstrated clinical expertise, and a strong background in immunizations requirements and guidelines. This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on public health by providing essential nursing services to individuals and families within the community.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Valid New Jersey Professional Registered Nurse (RN) license and CPR certification required.
  • Proven clinical experience, preferably in a public health setting, with a focus on public health services.
  • Strong case management and patient advocacy skills.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to conduct health assessments, develop care plans, and manage complex patient needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in clinical operations for a large public health department including women's health, Tuberculosis, Sexual Health, Childhood Lead prevention and Immunizations.
  • Perform clinical duties such as blood draws, specimen collection, injections, and other essential nursing interventions.
  • Provide immunizations for children and adults ages 6 months and up as required and recommended.
  • Under supervision, engage in teaching, counseling, and conducting epidemiological investigations related to communicable diseases
  • Deliver public health nursing services across various community settings, including homes, clinics, and schools.
  • Utilize nursing, social, and public health sciences to promote health and prevent the spread of communicable diseases within the community.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support public health efforts and the broader mission of the department.
