About The Position

The early Visiting Program Public Health Nurse (EVP-PHN) works under the direction of the Manager and provides nursing services within the framework of the Population Health Promotion Model. This employee works relatively independently and is expected to make primary decisions based on sound assessments in accordance with the Public Health Act, the policies of the Public Health Nursing program, the SRNA Standards of Practice, the Canadian Community Health Nursing Standards of Practice, the Public Health Nursing Discipline Specific Competencies and other relevant legislation. Inherent in this role are the knowledge, skills, and abilities specific to health promotion, primary and secondary prevention strategies and protection. Public Health Nurses translate knowledge from the health and social sciences to support health programs and advocacy. This employee liaises with, and refers to, other health personnel, and other sectors and community groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Certificate (BLS-HCP)
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
  • Must upload all relevant documents (ex: certificates, diplomas, proof of enrollment, licenses and/or memberships) relating to the qualifications of the position.
  • Must bring a valid Criminal Record Check (CRC) to the interview; it must be dated within six (6) months and include a vulnerable sector search.

  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Certificate (IBCLC)
