About The Position

This part-time, non-merit nurse position works in the immunization group, providing vaccines, education, and related services to clients at 5 immunization clinics and various outreach clinics throughout Salt Lake County. The role involves providing nursing and case management services, medical-legal record management, community outreach, education, and public relations.

Requirements

  • Professional licensure in the State of Utah as a Registered Nurse or a Multistate Nursing Compact License.
  • Pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back program.
  • A valid Driver’s License accepted by the State of Utah.
  • Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting in this position.
  • Will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing.
  • May be subject to post-accident and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing.
  • Vaccination or proof of vaccination may be required.
  • Knowledge of Public Health Nursing services/interventions (i.e., immunizations, communicable disease control, epidemiology, home visiting).
  • Knowledge of Nursing scope of practice and limitations.
  • Knowledge of Legal documentation and professional writing.
  • Knowledge of Effective teaching practices.
  • Knowledge of Cultural competency.
  • Knowledge of Community resources.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations governing record management.
  • Ability to Interview, counsel, educate, and conduct health assessments.
  • Ability to Use computer software related to job-specific duties, including electronic medical records.
  • Ability to Perform professional documentation and writing.
  • Ability to Work cooperatively with clients, coworkers, professionals, and the public.
  • Ability to Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to Organize and prioritize assignments and responsibilities, and keep time expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Utah must be obtained within six (6) months of hire to operate a County vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Provides professional nursing services and case management to assigned clients in a clinical, community, and/or infectious disease/epidemiological setting.
  • Utilizes established standards of practice, nursing knowledge, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Assesses health needs and priorities using appropriate assessment tools.
  • Educates and refers clients to appropriate resources.
  • Maintains and facilitates a current referral/resource network and patient follow-up and monitoring system.
  • Provides timely interventions, prioritizes all work assignments, and produces accurate, professional medical-legal documentation of client interventions.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulations governing records management (i.e., HIPAA and GRAMA).
  • Monitors assigned work areas' medical inventory, equipment, or durable/sellable goods, as assigned.
  • Prepares, analyzes, and submits professional plans, guidelines, protocols, and reports.
  • Provides vaccines, education, and related services to clients at immunization clinics and outreach clinics.
