About The Position
We are seeking a Public Health Microbiologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform microbiology and molecular testing in a public health laboratory. The ideal candidate will have experience with bacterial culture, PCR, DNA extraction, and laboratory quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in clinical, hospital, reference, or public health laboratories who are passionate about supporting public health through accurate laboratory testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, or related field
- Experience in microbiology or molecular diagnostics laboratory
- Knowledge of PCR, bacterial culture, DNA extraction, or WGS
- Familiarity with CLIA regulations and laboratory quality practices
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
Responsibilities
- Perform microbiology and molecular laboratory testing
- Identify disease-causing bacteria using PCR, culture, WGS, and other laboratory methods
- Analyze and report laboratory results
- Follow CLIA quality and safety guidelines
- Perform quality control and maintain laboratory documentation
- Support public health investigations and routine laboratory operations
