About The Position

Performs intermediate administrative work planning and implementing a health education program, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Deputy Health Director. This is a time limited contract role hired through the NC Alliance for Public Health that will end 5/31/2027. Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public health and public health education activities.
  • General knowledge of modern educational theory and techniques in the field of public health education.
  • General knowledge of journalistic principles and methods of preparing subject matter in the promotion of public health activities.
  • General knowledge of display techniques and skill in the arrangement of exhibits.
  • Ability to work effectively with people on all educational levels and to maintain effective working relationships with local health departments, community agencies, and the public.
  • Ability to write and speak effectively and to stimulate interest and cooperation among various groups in carrying out a program in public health education.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and standard office productivity software.
  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in health education, or related field and moderate experience in public health education, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Executes the deliverables outlined in the NC Division of Public Health (NC DPH) Agreement Addendum (AA) 118 (Regional Foundational Capabilities Development) alongside Health Department Administrative staff
  • Establish connections/partnerships with other NC DPH regional workforce development coordinators and NC DPH staff.
  • Identify training and workforce needs within Region 8 counties
  • Create solutions to training and workforce needs applicable to the Region 8 counties to include, but not limited to: agency client satisfaction surveys, agency customer service training, social determinants of health plan development and training, PowerDMS/Accreditation dashboard training, etc.
  • Attend Public Health Workforce meetings, virtually and/or in-person
  • Prepares, selects, assembles, and distributes informational materials to local agencies, organizations, and other individuals and groups interested in health programs and problems.
  • Assists in planning, developing, and conducting workshops, conferences, and training opportunities for professional groups and the public.
  • Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed, or volunteers.
  • Performs other related duties as required
