About The Position

The State of Nebraska, Health & Human Services - Agency 25, is seeking a Public Health Attorney I, II or III in Lincoln, NE. Requirements

Graduation from an accredited law school
Admission to the Nebraska bar (or eligible to be admitted by motion, or will graduate by May 2026 and take July 2026 bar exam to be sworn in September 2026)
Attorney II: At least one year of experience as an attorney practicing law and providing legal services such as preparing cases, advising clients, and/or interpreting laws or administrative policies
Attorney III: Three years of experience as an attorney practicing law and providing legal services such as preparing and trying cases, advising clients, and/or interpreting laws or administrative policies
Ability to provide legal support to the areas within public health
Ability to interpret and apply statutes, case law, decision of court/administrative hearings, federal and state regulations, and administrative rules and policies on a variety of legal issues
Ability to effectively communicate and interact with legal associated, other governmental employees, and the public
Ability to conduct legal research
Ability to formulate legal opinions and recommendations based on legal research
Ability to identify critical elements of legal questions or issues
Ability to use a computer for word processing, research, meetings and communication, and case information/filing

Nice To Haves

Experience or familiarity with Public Health
Knowledge of Westlaw
Experience drafting and reviewing contracts, data-sharing agreements and/or procurements and funds
Knowledge of privacy laws, such as HIPAA

Responsibilities
