About The Position

This is a grant-funded position expected to run through October of 2027. The hours for this position are not to exceed 19 hours per week. The pay rate for this position is $20 per hour. The Temporary Public Health Associate will support the Director of Health in managing the State Department of Public Health (DPH) per capita grant budget analysis and reporting. This role is critical in ensuring the continuation of essential public health programs, with a focus on mosquito larvicide management, residential radon testing, and various public health initiatives. The associate will also be responsible for statistical reporting across different departments and assisting in the development of programming related to lead exposure, opioids, community assessments, and strategic planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, environmental health, or a related field (required).
  • Experience in public health program management and budget analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data collection and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of public health principles and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Health with the analysis and reporting of the DPH per capita grant budget.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to maintain funding for the mosquito larvicide program in addition to other identified programs.
  • Manage the residential radon testing program, ensuring compliance with public health standards.
  • Support public health principles and practices in various community programs.
  • Pursue additional funding opportunities to enhance public health initiatives.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop grant proposals and funding applications.
  • Collect and compile statistical data from various departments, including Sanitarian Environmental, Social Work, Community Outreach, and Nursing.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive reports based on collected data.
  • Assist in the development of programming focused on lead exposure, opioid-related issues, and community assessments.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning process for the Health Department.
  • Conduct inspections related to food service, nuisance complaints, cosmetology, and lead poisoning.
  • Assist with vaccination clinics and related public health initiatives.
