About The Position

The Public Area Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of all hotel public spaces, including guest rooms, hallways, and common areas. This role involves stocking linen closets, managing soiled linens and trash, cleaning and polishing various surfaces, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and ensuring a high standard of guest satisfaction through professional interactions and efficient work habits. The position also requires adherence to safety and security protocols.

Requirements

Ability to communicate in English.
Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
Can communicate well with guests.
Willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
Working knowledge of the use of laundry chemicals and different formulas, as well as effects on various types of linen.
Ability to prioritize and organize work.
Ability to lift, bend, stoop, push or pull heavy loads, and stand for long periods of time.
Requires lifting bundles of linen weighing up to 75 lbs.
Ability to push and/or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
Adhere to the hotel security policies and procedures, particularly regarding key controls, lifting heavy objects, using chemicals, and effectively reporting safety hazards and safety concerns.

Responsibilities

Stock linen closets with amenities and supplies for room attendants.
Take supplies directly to room attendants.
Empty room attendant carts of soiled linen and trash.
Clean and remove spots from corridor walls and doors.
Polish and clean mirrors, room numbers on guest room doors, and elevator doors.
Vacuum, sweep, and/or mop hallways, stairwells, vending areas, and foyers.
Maintain cleanliness in all Hotel public spaces including food and beverage outlets and public bathrooms and common areas.
Clean ashtrays and empty trash.
Flip mattresses and move furniture as assigned by supervisor.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
Make sure all closets and linen chutes are locked at all times.
Process linen, terry and other materials in laundry and ensure all linens are folded properly and kept as wrinkle free as possible.
Respond to guest requests in a timely and professional manner.
Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
