About The Position

The Division of Politics, Administration, and Justice at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Public Administration Part-Time Lecturer Pool. We are seeking intelligent, highly motivated, and well-organized part-time lecturers to teach in our curriculum. We are particularly interested in faculty to teach in face to face classes for both our upper-division and graduate-level courses in Public Administration. An area of particular need is experience teaching or qualifications to teach upper-division and graduate courses in public finance and research methods, but other areas of interest include administrative law, emergency management, human resources, leadership, organizational theory, or ethics. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

Requirements

  • Prior teaching experience at the university level.
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
  • Academically qualified: Ph.D. (or achieving ABD status with an expected graduation date), D.P.A., J.D. or MA/MS/MPA in a field related to teaching responsibilities and maintaining scholarship activities.
  • Professionally qualified: Graduate degree and outstanding professional experience directly relevant to teaching assignment, along with professional and/or community service.
  • Minimum education for 100-300 level: master’s degree or ABD in a relevant field.
  • Minimum education for 400-level and graduate level: terminal degree (Ph.D., D.P.A., and J.D. are considered terminal degrees for courses taught in PAJ).
  • Must be available on very short notice.
  • Must disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years (after meeting minimum qualifications and before offer).
  • Must sign a release form authorizing the release of information by current and/or former employers concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct (if reaching final stages).

Responsibilities

  • Teach upper-division and graduate-level courses in Public Administration.
  • Teach courses in public finance and research methods.
  • Teach courses in administrative law, emergency management, human resources, leadership, organizational theory, or ethics.
  • Maintain scholarship activities to support teaching (if academically qualified).
  • Engage in professional and/or community service that supports teaching responsibilities (if professionally qualified).
