Amherst College invites applications for a Pub Staff/Bartender (Casual Position). This is a part-time, academic-year (42 weeks) position with an expected salary range of $20.00-23.00 per hour. The salary offered will vary based on relevant education, training, experience, tenure status, and other nondiscriminatory business considerations. The Pub Staff/Bartender is committed to delivering exceptional customer service while creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for Amherst College students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Reporting to the Pub Manager, this position supports pub operations, front-of-house hospitality, and food and beverage service during the academic year. Responsibilities include food and beverage preparation, counter service, inventory management, event support, and light administrative duties as assigned. The successful candidate ensures compliance with state alcohol laws and safe food handling practices, including proper labeling, dating, and product rotation, while maintaining a clean, inviting space for community gatherings. This role also models respectful, inclusive behavior and collaborates with campus partners to support programs that reflect Amherst College's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The work that Dining Services provides is central to student life. As such, all departmental positions, including this one, are designated as providing essential services and may be required to report to work, or remain on duty even when the College is closed. Food Safety and Allergen Awareness: All Dining Services employees are responsible for understanding and implementing established food safety procedures and allergen prevention protocols. Team members must actively support and respond appropriately to individuals with food allergies to ensure a safe dining experience for all community members. Employees are expected to apply the knowledge and procedures covered in mandatory training sessions in the course of their daily duties. Maintaining these safety standards is essential to protect the health and well-being of our students, guests, and colleagues. Failure to adhere to required food safety and allergen control practices may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
