About The Position

The PT Program Advisor role is responsible for providing comprehensive advising and support to current students. This includes assisting with registration, navigating institutional requirements, and offering career guidance to help students select appropriate career pathways. The advisor will also plan and execute retention and completion initiatives, maintain updated transfer plans for various universities, and collaborate with the Program Advisor Coordinator to enhance the programs and services offered by the Advising, Career & Transfer department. Additional duties include assisting with the graduation application process and commencement ceremonies, and acting as a liaison to build relationships with other advisors, offices, and departments.

Requirements

  • Maintain processes and systems that improve the quality of customer support services.
  • Demonstrate working functional knowledge and use of Banner and Microsoft Office.
  • Must possess outstanding communication, critical thinking, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Demonstrate the desire to learn new software requirements to support office functions & efficiency.
  • Adapt to learning new tasks & skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university required.
  • Possess personal computer literacy and good organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience / training in one or more of the following areas: education, teaching, academic advising, recruiting, sales, customer service, marketing, or public relations – preferably at Community College level.
  • Banner experience preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advising, registration assistance, and assistance in accessing and navigating institutional requirements to current students.
  • Provides career advising to assist students in choosing a career pathway.
  • Plan and implement retention and completion activities.
  • Update transfer plans for transfer universities.
  • Work with the Program Advisor Coordinator to plan, implement and evaluate the programs and services provided by Advising, Career & Transfer department.
  • Assist with graduation application process and commencement activities.
  • Serve as a liaison and foster intentional relationships with other advisors, offices, and departments.
