About The Position

Inclusive Services at BPL provides unique programs for children and teens with and without disabilities. Hospital Storytelling is Inclusive Services’ outreach program where we read to children at clinics and hospitals throughout Brooklyn, give them free books, and direct them back to the library. The PT Inclusive Services Assistant assists the Hospital Storytelling Coordinator and Inclusive Services Supervising Librarian administratively, prepares and sometime conducts, hospital storytelling sessions. This position provides clerical, administrative and programming support at Inclusive Services/Flatlands Branch to Supervising Librarian and Hospital Storytelling Coordinator. This is a part-time position. The salary for this position is $22/hour for an up to 15-hour workweek. Requirements

• HS diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Good customer service and communication skills
• Experience with people with disabilities.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with gardening, literature and arts programming for children a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with outreach at community and special events for Inclusive Services
• Answering office phones
• Printing and organization of Inclusive Services materials
• Assisting coordinator with Hospital Storytelling events by gathering appropriate supplies, corresponding with site liaisons, and assisting with programs
• Processing new giveaway books and distributing materials via both internal and external mail
• Helping coordinator log statistics and assisting in preparing reports
• Assisting with Read and Play, Afterschool Stories and gardening programs.
