About The Position

To perform clerical customer service duties in support of college registration activities involving serving as a cashier, handling student complaints, providing information, and maintaining related financial records. This role receives general supervision and exercises no supervision. The position involves performing general cashiering duties for the college, receiving student tuition and fees, issuing parking decals, issuing receipts, and processing refunds as required. It also includes maintaining necessary records and files of transactions, recording all monies received on a computer terminal, and balancing the cash drawer daily. Additionally, the role provides assistance to students and the public with inquiries and complaints, answers student complaints regarding registration fees, delinquencies, and refunds, identifies customer service problems, conducts research, and communicates results to students. The cashier will also answer incoming telephone calls, provide general information on college registration policies and procedures, and refer calls to appropriate personnel. Maintaining a petty cash fund, balancing it regularly, and maintaining parking ticket information are also key responsibilities. Assisting with ID production and performing other duties as assigned are also part of the role. Other important functions include performing general clerical duties such as typing and proofreading documents, and assisting with shredding and disposing of outdated financial documents.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One year of cash handling and customer service required
  • Basic customer relations techniques
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Principles and procedures of record keeping
  • Research and answer department questions regarding status of accounts, the proper coding of transactions and related matters.
  • Procedures and practices involved with handling money, issuing receipts and balancing a cash drawer
  • Ability to learn the operations, services and activities of a customer service program.
  • Respond tactfully and courteously with the public in answering student inquiries and referring complaints.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Work independently in absence of supervision

Responsibilities

  • Perform general cashiering duties for the college; receive student tuition and fees; issue parking decals; issue receipts; issue refunds as required.
