This specific role is for a Psychology Postdoctoral Fellow within Behavioral Health Services, offering specialized training and education in psychological care for individuals with behavioral health needs. The position involves direct psychological services, diagnostic interviews, psychological assessments, crisis intervention, individual psychotherapy, clinical documentation, team meetings, and clinical consultation within an interdisciplinary treatment approach. Training experiences are available in Mobile Crisis Services and Outpatient Clinic Services.

Requirements

  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • By the beginning of the fellowship year, must have completed all professional doctoral degree requirements from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • Anticipated completion of a predoctoral internship meeting APPIC standards.
  • Prior to beginning the Fellowship program, must have the diploma in hand or a letter from the Director of Graduate Studies verifying the completion of all degree requirements, pending the institution graduation ceremony.
  • Possession or anticipated possession of a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Knowledge of psychological theory and skill in the application of the principles and techniques of clinical psychology.
  • Specific training in the treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric diagnostic nomenclature.
  • Knowledge of treatment planning and individual/group/family therapy techniques.
  • Training and supervision in group and individual psychotherapy and diagnostic assessment.
  • Leadership ability.
  • Knowledge of psychopathology.
  • Risk assessment/management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with patients, multidisciplinary treatment teams, other professionals, community agencies and others.

Nice To Haves

  • Predoctoral internships accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) are preferred.
  • Doctoral degree obtained from an institution of higher education accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct psychological services to individuals with a variety of behavioral health needs (at least 65% of time).
  • Conduct diagnostic interviews.
  • Perform psychological assessments.
  • Engage in crisis intervention.
  • Provide individual psychotherapy.
  • Complete clinical documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Provide clinical consultation as part of an interdisciplinary treatment approach.
  • Transfer institutional and professional knowledge.
