The Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS) is seeking a licensed Psychologist to oversee facility behavioral healthcare functions. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a solid background and a passion for habilitating youth. DYS is the juvenile corrections system for the state of Ohio, statutorily mandated to confine felony offenders, ages 10-21, who have been adjudicated and committed by one of Ohio's 88 county juvenile courts. During their stay with DYS, youth are engaged in programming designed to address their criminological and behavioral needs. DYS reaches thousands of youth in facilities and those on parole. This position offers a 20% supplement for all new hires and transfers. The role involves developing and performing psychological assessments, interviewing, administering and interpreting tests, preparing reports, formulating and modifying treatment plans, attending unit treatment team meetings, conferring with institution professionals, and assuring compliance with certifying/accrediting/professional agencies. The Psychologist will also provide lead work/clinical supervision to student interns, conduct psychotherapy rehabilitation sessions, document activities, prepare reports, and respond to emergency situations. In some cases, the role may involve lead work over contractual psychologists. All new candidates hired must undergo a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check and participate in paid, mandatory 4 weeks of training.
