About The Position

The Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) is a vital component of the United States Navy's healthcare system. Its primary mission is to ensure that Navy medical personnel are adequately trained and prepared to deliver quality healthcare services to sailors, marines, and their families. NMRTC provides comprehensive medical training, including clinical skills development, operational medicine, and readiness training. Additionally, it oversees the readiness of medical facilities and units, ensuring they are fully equipped and capable of providing medical support in various operational environments, including deployments, humanitarian missions, and combat situations. NMRTC plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and well-being of military personnel and supporting the overall readiness of the U.S. Navy.

Requirements

  • Must have a PhD or PsyD.
  • Graduate from a college or university accredited by the American Psychology Association with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • At least one year of full-time experience in the last two years working with patients diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), meeting clinical competency requirements.
  • Successfully complete an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association.
  • Must hold a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or US Virgin Islands.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing individuals' mental and emotional health through conducting interviews, tests, and observations.
  • Diagnosing psychological disorders and issues based on assessments and observations.
  • Providing counseling and therapy sessions to help individuals overcome challenges and improve their overall well-being.
  • Conducting research to advance understanding of human behavior and develop new treatment methods.
  • Participating in professional development activities to stay updated on the latest research, techniques, and ethical guidelines.
  • Ensuring confidentiality and privacy of client information is paramount in the practice of psychology.
  • Maintaining a level of productivity comparable with that of other individuals performing similar services.
  • Practicing aseptic techniques as necessary and complying with infectious waste disposal and universal precautions to prevent the spread of infection.
  • Performing efficiently in emergency patient situations, following established protocols, remaining calm, and informing appropriate persons while documenting events.
  • Attending and/or complying with all annual training classes.
  • Attending and participating in various meetings as directed.
  • Maintaining documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with clinic directives and preparing such records and reports as may be required.
