About The Position

The Psychologist provides comprehensive mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults within a behavioral health clinic setting. This role includes psychological assessments, therapy, crisis intervention, and clinical consultation. The psychologist collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to support clients in reducing symptoms, improving functioning, and working toward recovery. Gateway Longview’s Behavioral Health & Preventive Services programs supports children and youth ages birth-21 years struggling with behavioral, social, and emotional challenges.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
  • Licensed or license-eligible as a Psychologist in New York.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a behavioral health setting.
  • Proficiency in evidence-based treatment modalities.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with OMH regulations and trauma-informed care models, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations to assess cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
  • Utilize standardized assessments, diagnostic tools, and clinical interviews to guide treatment planning.
  • In collaboration with Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and Supervisory staff provide diagnostic clarity and treatment recommendations for Mental Health Clinicians
  • Assess and diagnose clients in accordance with DSM and ICD codes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and agency standards.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to client needs.
  • Provide therapy to individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental health conditions.
  • Facilitate individual, group, and/or family therapy sessions.
  • Ensure client engagement in the therapeutic process through consistent attendance and participation.
  • Conduct crisis assessments and interventions as needed.
  • Offer consultation and psychoeducation to families, caregivers, clinical staff
  • In collaboration with supervisory staff, support clinical staff by providing guidance on treatment approaches and behavioral management strategies.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including Mental Health Clinicians and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners
  • Coordinate care with schools, pediatricians, primary care providers, and community organizations.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and treatment planning to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical records per agency policies and regulatory standards.
  • Complete progress notes, treatment plans, and assessments in compliance with billing and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical and legal guidelines in psychological practice.
  • Maintain a caseload aligned with productivity expectations.
  • Identify cases requiring higher levels of care (e.g., referrals for neuropsychological assessments, inpatient care, OPWDD services).
  • Assist in 24/7 clinic coverage as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
