Psychological Services Specialist, DOC - SCI Forest
About The Position
This position delivers psychological services that support emotional health, treatment planning, and behavioral progress for inmates at SCI Forest. As a Psychological Services Specialist, DOC, you will perform the following duties: Counseling Services: Provide individual and group therapy to help inmates build coping skills and address behavioral or emotional needs. Assessment Activities: Conduct interviews and testing to evaluate mental health needs and recommend appropriate interventions. Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with institutional departments and outside agencies to support continuity of care. Crisis Response: Deliver emergency psychological support to inmates experiencing acute emotional distress. Program Support: Assist with research efforts and contribute to committees that guide mental health services within the facility. Guidance for Interns: Provide training and oversight to psychology student interns during testing and evaluation tasks.
Requirements
- A master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field that includes fifteen graduate level credits in psychology or counseling.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Additional pay will be considered for those who currently possess or obtain licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselors.
